Use JPG as background (2002 SR1)

I have JPG images of our floor plans and would like to use them as a background/underlay/overlay for a plan of cabling in the building. Just inserting the image seems to have some limitations, the fact that I can click and drag for instance.

Also I am unable to find anything specific the Cat5 or RJ connectors, I am over-looking something here?

    TIA.

Put your floorplan on another layer and then lock the layer. This will make it unselectable and you can also make it partially transparent if you wanted to see the active lines better. Layers are created and edited under View > Layer Properties. You can put an object onto another layer by using the drop down on the Format Shape Toolbar.

I only have Visio Standard and if I use the File > Find Shape command the only Cat5 or RJ shape I can find is a Lucent 1100 Patch Panel. Perhaps the Professional version of Visio has many more elements that are useful.

Thanks for that, Andrew. I'll try it over the weekend.

Granville, have a look on this page. He has a lot of links to various odds and ends for Visio stencils. Alternatively do a Google search - you might be amazed at what is out there- I know I always am.

Browsing that page (and the other pages attached to www.mvps.org/visio) takes a lot less time than it took for me to create those pages.

I'm glad you find them useful.
