Driving Word (Access 2000)
Anyone used code to extract the contents of a Word Mailmerge Master Document - without triggering Word to connect to the Data Source ?
Next step will be to walk through the contents and replace Mailmerge fields with Bookmarks,
Sorry if this looks like a Word problem, but I'd like to run the process from Access.

Re: Driving Word (Access 2000)
To retrieve the contents of a Word document, you must open it. If it is a mail merge document, Word will try to connect to the data source. If you want to prevent that, you should change it to a non-merge document (without removing the mail merge fields). Problem is that you have to open it before you can change it to a non-merge document...
You can manipulate a Word document from Access using Automation: you start and control an instance of Word from Access. See <!profile=WendellB>WendellB<!/profile>'s profile - his website contains a tutorial on Automation.
