Network Icon in System Tray

After doing some anti virus changes, my network icon ( you know the two little connected tv's) in the system tray have disappeared. My networked computer can't access the printer. How do I get the connection back?

What kind of connection do you have? If you have an "always on" connection, you should see the icon all the time. There is a checkbox somewhere to display the icon when you're connected, but I can't recall where it is.

What version of Windows are you running? What version of Windows is running on the other computer that you want to be able to attach to this one?

Last Q: what do you mean by antivirus "changes"? Was it just the regularly scheduled vendor updates or did you switch products, add a firewall, etc.?

Thanks for the help. Our tech is stuck in the Sea to Sky Flood and can't get down to us. We are connected through Dlink/firewall. Master PC is 98se; laptop Win XP Pro. The networking was functioning fine, but now won't see the connection. Laptop does't see the printer even though I know it was there before. I'm thinking I've messed with something to have it looking somewhere else. Yesterday the email wasn't working but that I found out was an issue from our server. It was working great this morning. I had some issues with Norton Internet Securtiy coupled with Norton SW uninstall too. Kept getting file missing on boot up. Finally, after loading and unloading today, I've resigned the fact of having it loaded...I'll work around the issues until I get XP installed. The tv icon I haven't been able to get back, but you know...as long as one the computers is working we'll just have to wait until next week to iron out the snags.
