Master Password in Firebird (Firebird)

How do I tell Firebird to require a master password before storing/recalling site passwords? I hunted and hunted and could not find this.

Unless you're running Windows 9x (or have largely bypassed the built-in security features in your OS), you would have to be logged on to your machine as yourself in order to be able to access your password list in the first place. On that basis, a master password would be redundant. Hope That Helps

Still using Win 98. Employer gave me a choice of that or NT and I really did not like NT.

Understood. You may have some difficult choices ahead.

AFAIK the Master Password feature that applied in earlier versions of Mozilla got dropped in one of the earliest stand-alone builds of Firebird. Not that it's much consolation to you, but Windows 9x is the only OS that has such easily bypassable security.

Microsoft's answer to that - in part - is that (post Windows 3x) NT has always been their office-designed product. In fact, NT - compared to 9x - is crash-proof. So employers lose more in productivity than they gain in cash flow by having 9x.

Firebird is the best version of Mozilla browser available. I'm not sure whether Mozilla - which is your next best choice - still has a Master Password. Netscape 7x may still have a Master Password.

...I'm not sure whether Mozilla.....still has a Master Password...

I just upgraded to version 1.5 and the master password is still there although I've never had need to use it.
