Missing Default Toolbars (MS Word 2000)

Help....I have a user who somehow managed to delete all the default toolbars in MS Word including the menu bar. I have repaired and uninstalled/reinstalled MS Office 2000 but the toolbars are still gone...anyone know how to get these back?

    Thanks. pat

You're not supposed to be able to delete the menu bar. Are you sure the user isn't stuck in full screen mode (Esc should get him/her out of it), or that the menu bar and toolbars haven't been moved offscreen?

You might let the user try the following:
    - Activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11)
    - Activate the Immediate window (Ctrl+G)
    - Type CommandBars("Menu Bar").Position = msoBarTop then press Enter.
    - Switch back to Word (Alt+F11)
If this restores the menu bar, repeat for toolbars such as "Standard" and "Formatting".

Also, take a look at Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000),197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word (97/2000)<!/post>.

Thank you! I appreciate the quick response to my question. This is my first time on here and I'm sure I will use it quite often! Thanks again! Pat

It seems that someone does this every six months or so. We ought to see if it coincides with a particular phase of the moon. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

But seriously, I believe toolbar positions are stored in Normal.dot. Of the many steps in Phil's systematic approach, you might skip to renaming Normal.dot and seeing if Word then presents the toolbars in their default positions.
