Outlook rules with mutiple inclusive name (2003)

    Folks

I am trying to create a rule that would trigger based on the message recipient address.

More specifically I would like a condition that reads

If sent to xxx@yyy.com OR yyy@yyy.com

However the rule wizard apparently only allows AND conditions: if I list multiple names in the "sent to people or distribution list" rule it will read

If sent to xxx@yyy.com AND yyy@yyy.com

I can somehow avoid this by using "specific words in the recipient's address" condition but I'd rather find a way to create a rule based on entries linked to my address book.

    Any idea ?

    Regards

    Alex

A rather crude but effective way to solve your problem would be to simply create two rules. One for each person.

I am indeed running 2003. Since before I joined the Lounge, I feel obliged to explain whenever I am basing my advice on another software version (which is not the case here).

Are we both starting from the same part of the Rules Wizard?

Ok, I did some further testing and if I start from scratch it does work.... Howerver I had and still have a rule that does NOT work and quite frankly I have no idea why it behaves differently...

But having a solution is good enough for the time being !

    Thanks

The "<e-mail_address1>or<e-mail_address2>or<e-mail_address3>or ..." capability is in OL 2000.

Re: Outlook rules with mutiple inclusive name (200

Transitioning Rules from one version of Outlook has been a problem from Outlook version to the next for quite some time. Outlook has a good set of options on formatting/highlighting, but many users who have a choice stay with other mail clients because the Rules have (historically) filled their needs better.

Glad to hear that you now have something workable.
