Re: Creating Email from text box (XP)

You could use code like this in the On Click (or On Dbl Click) event of the text box containing the e-mail address:

    Application.FollowHyperlink "mailto:" & Me.txtEMail

where txtEMail is the name of the text box containing the e-mail address.

Concerning your additional question: would you like to add *all* names from the list box to the To: field, or would you like the user to be able to select a number of names, and add only the selected names?

Note: it is usually better to ask additional questions in a reply in the thread; modifying or expanding the original question can be confusing to other Loungers reading the thread. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Creating Email from text box (XP)

<P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by bigsteve520 on 22-Oct-03 13:39. Answer.)</P>There may be a simple solution for this but I am just not aware of it. I have a form where the user selects a contact name. This combo then populates all that contacts information on the form. I want to be able to click on the email attribute and start outlook with that email address in the TO: field. I know you can do this with a label, but i just can't seem to figure out the text box. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I had another thought regarding email...how difficult would it be to start email and create a message with everyone in a list box included in the To: field?

The list will have been filtered by the user selection from a combo box and only contain the contacts to email.

    Thanks for your quick response.

Re: Creating Email from text box (XP)

One additional thing here is the ability to run the entire e-mail from inside the DB. This is how we handle all of the dispatches to our field personnel. It saves the hassle of going over to Outlook to do the message. However, there are all of those security updates that microsoft put into outlook and this adds a level of difficulty to the fray. We ended up using the redemption mail item and that appears to work really well.

    Thanks,
    Mark
