    countif question (excel '97)

How can i use an "and" condition within a "=countif" function?

For instance, I want to do: =countif (range,condition2 AND condition 2) where my range is actually two different (although adjacent) columns.

I want the count to be incremented if BOTH conditions are satisfied...lets say "count if visiting team score = 2 AND home team score = 5" where visiting team score is in one column and home team score is in the next column.

Any ideas as to how I can handle this?

Say that home team score is in A1:A10 and visiting team score in B1:B10. Use this formula:

    =SUMPRODUCT((A1:A10=2)*(B1:B10=5))

You can use named ranges instead of cell references.
