excel to printing labels (excel 2002)

I have a database of over 350 names, addresses,etc, from my bowling club.
I like to print out labels on an Avery type sheet with only the names and addresses for mailing.
Word has an envelopes and labels section, but I cannot find that in Excel.

How do I tranfer the names and addresses into mailmerge?
Do I have to transfer it to Access (which I have never used it)

Word can do a mail merge with addresses from an Excel workbook. Prerequisite is that your address list is set up in table form, with field names in the first row, and each address in a separate row below it.

This is OK:

This is NOT suitable:

If you do a mail merge (to labels) in Word 2002, the third step will let you browse for an existing list of recipients; .xls is one of the recognized file types.
