The eternal Critical Update Loop (WinXP Professional)

I have the handy, dandy automatic update activated on my p.c. because I simply don't have the time to wade through all the security stuff I get get at work and home. Every time I turn the p.c. on (about once a day), it tells me that there are critical updates to XP and IE6 so I dutifully download and install them. I happened to mention this at work and the horrified sysadmin told me that I shouldn't have to critically update so much and that something must be wrong. I'd like to think that there are, indeed critical updates, but really, every day? <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

Re: The eternal Critical Update Loop (WinXP Professional)

I use the handy dandy Security Site because I don't have time to wade through and screw around with all that Windows Update glitch stuff. One click I have the list. One click they email me the bulletins. That's time saved in spades. If you do a scientific time motion study, there is no contest between the two in the first place if WU were glitch free and it's not. They are making a new one. If they update and revise bulletins, as they did to the October bulletins which are included in the roll up yesterday, you are the first to know and can just do one click installs.

I can start the installs this way faster than Win Up can offer them.
