    Add/Remove entries (XP)

I want to get some of the stuff on the add/remove off my list. the stuff i want does not have an uninstall button next to it. The funny thing is the stuff i want off there is also not in the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentV ersionUninstall. There has to be another spot this list is pulling some information because i am positive the few programs on not in that part of the registry. Anyone have any clue?

There is a neat <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> ware program called addremove Pro, that can do what the Win version does, plus scans to see if the entries are valid or not. Then you can remove either the program OR the entry from the list. Does a nice job.

Download it at ADDREMOVE PRO Click on Freeware to get to the DL

As you say Jordan, there have to be other spots in the registry where they are and those spots depend on what they are. If you're thinking why the _______does it work that way--good point. If you tell me the particular program I'll try to find out where it lives in your registry. Let me know if the info I compiled helps you--often see your problems but not what happened after.

I always use a program called Add Remove Pro that does a better job of removing often but I don't know if it'll improve your entry list. There is also trialware for Add Remove Plus 2003. Also you can look into Macecraft's jv6 Powertools.

First for some reason, there are times when some entries aren't showing in Add/Remove because something has impacted this--Kelly has a tweak for that to "reduce white space" Add/Remove but I can't find which number. She has told me that one time with a cad/cam software entry situation she saw over 40 pages of white space when it was printed (I guess pasted into Word or one of its homies like WordPad). You can look here:

    Kelly's Tweaks

Second, Kelly has discussions on Add/Remove and helpful fixes to make more things show up:

    See Add/Remove Section Kelly's ABC under "A"

Third--Tech TV has some helpful ways to find the hidden items that should be on add remove and aren't so see this article:

How To Show All Files in Add/Remove

    Fourth--Old Lounge Threads on this:

    Add Remove Windows Components 6/11/02

    Add/Remove Programs Corrupted 10/21/02

    Cannot Delete A Program 4/12/03

I was picking random places in the registry to modify to liven up a Sunday afternoon (close your eyes and click--pick a number from 1-10) and I came upon a places where you may locate some of these programs whatever they are and be able to get them out of your hair. The thing is though, you'd like to know that deleting a given registry key wouldn't take other needed .dlls or files for other programs, and without knowing the program that's hard to do. Another area where many programs, but not all because it would be way too orderly, like to hang:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVe rsion ExplorerMenuOrderStart Menu(or Start Menu2)Programs

This key will yield a list of most of your programs.
