Office 2003: Outlook with Business Contact Manger (2003)

Can anyone explain why several of the Office 2003 "packages" feature both

Outlook 2003

Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager[/list]as if it was possible to have two versions of Outlook simultaneously present?

    What am I missing?

PS pleased to see that Small Business Edition includes both Publisher and Powerpoint!

I guess it's so you know BCM requires outlook to work and that you can use outlook without it.

So it isn't two separately-identifiable products, then? Just one, and you can choose to use which "bit" you like?

    John--

I thought it worked like this: You could get Outlook 2003 as a stand-alone, or you could get it in Standard or Student Teacher edition without BCM. But if you get it with MOS2003 Professional or Small Business Edition, then you have the option to use Outlook with BCM.

    See:

BCM option included in MSO Small Business Edition and Professional

There are two CD-ROM in Office 2003 Pro.

One has Office with the usual players.

    The other has BCM.

Same with SBE and any future edition that might offer SBE--it's an extra option one could use if the edition offered it. Many many comparison say ACT 6.0 is considerably better than anything BCM or Outlook or MS has to offer at thist time. I suppose, since I haven't tried its versions, and they are a strong partner of MS, Franklin Covey's organizing software as an extra 3rd party add on for Outlook doesn't overlap with BCM.
