Normal.dot corrupt if Word loads at startup (2000 SP3/Win2k)
Since installing Omnipage 12 (and WOPR -- but I think OP is the culprit) and loading Word at startup I get the message: 'Word encountered file corruption while opening normal.dot. Part of this document may be recoverable. Attempt recovery now? Yes/No'. Selecting 'Yes' returns the message: 'Word cannot open the existing "X'. That's a double quote followed by a small square box character. If I dismiss that message, Word operates normally.
If I start Word manually after the computer has booted, it starts normally, as it used to do. 'Manually' includes clicking on the same shortcut in the Startup group that would be called during booting.
This is not life threatening, but it's darned odd <img src=/S/exclamation.gif border=0 alt=exclamation width=15 height=15> Ideas welcome.
