    Strange error message (Access 2000)

An access database sits in a separate office from mine (around 30 miles away) ..

When they click on a hyperlink leading to a word document stored on their server, they get the 'error' message displayed below.

but if i use the same database, and hyperlink from my location, i do not get the error message.

As far as i'm aware, we all have the same read/write access to the folder the documents are stored on.

The error message warning, seems to be generated by office. and has some security type implications.

Im looking and looking in access options and cant see anything

This message does not mean that macros or a virus have been detected, it is a general warning. See OFF: "Open Programs" Message Appears When You Click Hyperlink to Program - this is for executables, but the warning you get is closely related. The setting for turning this warning on or off is probably not in Access itself, but I don't know where it is (I tried Confirm Open after Download in Tools | Folder Options... in Windows Explorer, but that doesn't seem to be the one.)

Hans,I think this is a property of XP messenger.

Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services - Messenger - Start up Type, select disabled.

    Dave,

I hope this will help Steve. I don't get the warning he mentions on my PC, yet the Messenger service is started.

    Hans
The machine I am on at the moment shows the same message.
The help files are not very informative either.
There are two types of message, one with a check box to trust the content, and one without for .COM, .EXE etc files
where executable items can be automatically fired on download.
I saw something on this a while ago, but can't find it for the life of me.

If I find it, I will let you know.

    Thanks for the suggestions guys...

Whats interesting here, is that its windoze 2000 all round.

Plus, the option that Dave mentions is not alterable by a user. Its set by the system admin. We have no way to even check it.

All of these PC's that these are connected to, are all built from the same image. with the same options.
