    Hi Joe,
Same here also. I installed the new version on 9/24/03 and it has been working fine since. Not sure just what the new version did over the last one but I always go for the newest version if at all possible.

    Re: ZoneAlarm 4.0.210.0

Thanks for the information, Joe. Did you mean 4.0.210.0? If so, you might want to modify the subject. You know, I clicked on "check for updates" on my version of ZA (3.7.211) & it said there were no updates. I thought that included newer versions. Hmmm?????

    Phil,
Yes I meant 4.0.211.0. I saw it mentioned on the web somewhere (can't remember the site). My 3.7.211 also said there were no updates. If you go to zonelabs and download the free version you'll get 4.0.211.0

T'ain't necessarily so, Joe. Following the link YOU provided does in fact lead directly to an .EXE file that contains a readme file that confirms what you say - Version 4. However, EVERYWHERE I go on the ZoneLabs site leads me only to a version 3 download. I even thought that maybe the download you got was a trial version of the Pro, but that ain't so either. The trial Pro version has a different "dot" sequence in it. I wish I knew what is going on with them. I'm a bit fearful of installing this thing. Are you not having any trouble that you can tell, and when you check the info after installing, does it confirm that it's 4.0.211?

If you click on zonelabs in Post 307365, you can download version 4.0_210_0. I also could not find it on their web site. Under the 4.0 downloads, it downloads 3.7_211. I installed the 4.0_210_0 and everything seems to we working fine.

    Re: ZoneAlarm 4.0.210.0

After reading the post the other night, I went to the ZoneLabs site and walked through the links and did download version 4.0.210. Later I sent a email asking about this and the link was changed to tjhe 3.7_211.1 version. I think there was a OOPS and my email opened their eyes, I know they have been beta testing a new version but I have not seen it as of yet. I did not have the time to test it for this go around.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: ZoneAlarm 4.0.210.0

Joe's link "http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/1003_zl/zaSetup_40_210_0.exe" takes me directly to download what it says is 40.210.0 (which Joe says is really 40.211.0). If you download it & look on the version property sheet, it says "Zone Alarm Pro". I think it's their trial version of Pro, not the free version. On their site, you can only download "zaSetup_37_211.exe" for the free version. Version 4 is also about 1 MB larger than ZA Version 3.

    Re: ZoneAlarm 4.0.210.0

I tried this and this is what happens:
D/L the file from Joe's link. When you run the file, it will ask you if you are upgrading or changing to the pro version.
When you click upgrade, it will run and save your settings from the previous version.

NOW, when you check the version number in the overview tab, it will show as:
    Zone Alarm Version 4.0.210.000
True vector security engine Version 4.0.210.000
    Driver Version 4.0.210.000

You have upgraded to the new version but retained the free. (not the Pro)

    Re: ZoneAlarm 4.0.210.0

Thanks for this information, Bob. I'll have to download it again. After I thought I knew what had happened I deleted my downloads. Don't know why they did it this way & why "check for updates" doesn't show anything.

BigAl, Oops big typo on my part. The software is 4.0.210.0000. That is what is on the product info tab of the ZoneAlarm control center. As far as I can tell I'm not having any problems at all. It may be my imagination but things seem a little snappier.

I don't think that's the case either, 'cause if you follow the links on the web pages to download the trial version of Pro, the filename that pops into the download window is: "zapSetup_40_146_029.exe"

Anyway, I saved the download of 40.210.0 but just haven't installed it yet as the rest of you have. We'll see what we shall see.....

    Phil,

Yes it's a strange way of putting out an "updateupgrade". Logically, you would think that a check for update would advise that the latest version is available? Looks like a back door correction to me.

Bob, I've had this happen more than once with ZA. I just think that their update detection is lousy.

I decided to try it. It turns out to be a new format. You have the choice of Pro trial or free in the same package. You can choose the trial and go back to free after the 15 days. Seems a good idea to me
