Attachments Open as 'READ ONLY' (2003)

Upgraded to Office Pro 2003 and like the new Outlook. However... Now when I open attachments, they all open as read only and require saving before they can be modified. I used to be able to modify the attachment after opening it direct and then forwarding the original message (with changes in attachment) without having to go through the drill of saving the document, replying to the original message, and the attaching the changed document (way too many clicks). Anyone have any ideas why this is happening and if there is a fix. I have not been able to find one.

My guess is that someone decided it was a good idea to reduce the number of ways you could accidentally ruin your one original copy of an e-mail attachment. Or perhaps it's a security issue.

(Anyway, I have no idea how I would try to change it... haven't installed 2003 yet.)

I noticed it the other day and it annoys me. if i open the message then the doc, then its not read only, but i hate opening messages. The only advantage of opening them is i don't do it a lot and i tend to multitask - this way i can read other messages without affecting the open doc and the changes are saved properly.
