    Fill-in Field (XP)

I'm sorry to say that I've been trying to figure out how to use a Fill-in Field in Word, but I just can't figure it out, despite reading the Help File.

I would like to setup a Template for our office that, when opened, would display a series of Prompts, e.g., Company Name, Address, etc.

When I try to do this, it immediately flashes up with teh prompt dialog and then the value is entered into the document. I don't want a value in there until the Template is actually opened, i.e, not when I'm making the Template.

I didn't think this would be so difficult, but 2 people in my office have tried to figure out how this works, and we just can't. Can anyone advise how we do this, please?

    Thanks

    Thanks! It worked.

Easy when you know how, huh. :0

    Thanks again.

    Re: Fill-in Field (XP)

    1. Put the fillin fields in your template. DON'T update the fields.
    2. Save the template.

You should NOT be opening the template. You create a new document based on the template. When you open a new document based on the template, the fillin fields will prompt you.
    Hope this helps,
