    Icon on my desktop (2000)

After I use Outlook 2000, there is often an icon placed on my desktop. I have attached what it looks like. It doesn't seem to do any harm and it doesn't seem to affect the performance of Outlook. It is just a bit annoying when it appears, that's all.

Anybody know what it is and how to prevent it from appearing?

If you right click it and open it in WordPad, is there anything in it? A tilde is a common "temp file" character, but usually the file name would contain other characters. Very odd.

This seems to be a side effect of a patch for Outlook Express <!mskb=330994>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 330994<!/mskb>. When you modify the Address Book, a copy of the Address Book is erroneously stored on your desktop under the name "~". You can delete it without harm/

According to the MS Newsgroups, Microsoft is aware of this problem.
