Fonts & Clip Art

This might not be considered an Excel problem...
But here goes.

If I've created a spreadsheet that contains a clip art image and a "not so standard" font and then send the spreadsheet to another user, does the clip art and fonts go with it as part of the one *.xls file or do those items have to be sent along to the new user as separate files?

I'm betting that the font file has to be sent to the new user so I'll ask the next question in advance. Does the font file have to be placed in a specific directory or can it be placed in a folder with the spreadsheet?

I guess I could figure this out for myself if I had two computers in the house!

Re: Fonts & Clip Art

Hi Ricky,

The font certainly needs to be sent and must go in the Fonts directory to be usable. The path for fonts is normally C:WindowsFonts or for NT change Windows to WinNT.

The clip art should be ok so long as it is embedded and NOT pasted in as a link.

Slightly off-topic here but... Word has an option to Embed True Type fonts that allows a file to be opened up on another computer and retain the fonts used in the document, even if they are not resident on the other computer. The entire font can be embedded, or only those characters actually used in the document.

Is there an add-in or VBA module that can accomplish this for Excel?
