    HTML to text?

Can Outlook 2000 change HTML messages to regular text messages (by stripping the HTML out) on the fly? If not, are there programs that can do that in the background while I get my email from the server?

    Thanks for your help.

A while back, MaryJ posted a link to the ZapHtml macro over at SlipStick. This intercepts each message as it arrives and flips it into plain text. Not good for my needs, but perhaps suits yours?

    actually i think it converts to rtf. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.grinningshark.com>WYB</A> will strip some tags from HTML. i don't think it will completely convert to plain text though.

Thanks, it seems that HTML to plain-text is not possible. Maybe HTML to RTF will be good enough. I'll give it a try.

    Re: HTML to text?

On the above topic, I receive messages in HTML format that Outlook 2000 does not format. All I get is a message saying that
"IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THEN YOU ARE NOT
USING AN HTML ENABLED MAIL READER"
and rest of message is HTML codes. I have to save as an HTML document and read via IE.
I am sure there is a way to configure so that it will format (although I thought OL detected format of incoming messages and handled accordingly) but, as usual, I am having great difficulty finding answer via online help. Can anyone assist?

    Re: HTML to text?

Sorry, I should have said that it is OL 2000 I am using. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is very tedious to save and re-open these docs.
