    Re: Print Files

.PRN files are not meant to be opened by any program, but to be sent to the printer, using a command line instruction like

    COPY MyFile.prn LPT1:

If you want a readable print file (although it doesn't seem very useful), define a General/Text Only printer and use that.

    Print Files

If you select the Print command in any Windows application, the "Print to File" option allows to obtain a file with the PRN extension.
What program is capable of reading such a file?

    Re: Print Files

    I found this information here......

You can use the PRN file format to create a PDF file. You can use two methods to create a PDF file from a file saved as a PRN file format:
1.) Use Adobe Distiller®. This is an application that you can buy a license for like any other professional software. If you work in a large company, your documentation services may have a multiple license version that you can also use. If you have Distiller available, then see the documentation for instructions on creating a PDF with this product.
2.) Use the Adobe Create PDF Online service. This is a free web service that allows you to create PDF files quickly and easily. You can create 5 free PDF documents with any one email address before deciding to subscribe, or not to subscribe.
The Create PDF Online service is a quick solution to create a PDF file PRN file. It does not require software to be installed, and can be used from any machine that has access to a browser and internet connection.

Converting a PRN file to PDF format
You can convert the PRN you have created to a PDF file using the free Adobe Create PDF Online Service.
Open a universe and print the universe to file.
    You create a PRN file.
Start a browser and go to the following address: http://www.adobe.com/products/tryadobe/main.html
Follow the Create Adobe PDF Online link and log in to the service.
Follow the online instructions to set parameters for your file conversion.
    Browse to the PRN file.
    Start the conversion process.
When the PDF file has been created, you are notified by email.
Download the PDF file and open it in Acrobat Reader.
Use the text tool in Reader to select and copy and paste into Notepad or any text editor.
