Lounge Fact & FAQ's Idea?

Hi Bob,

Congratulations on becoming a Bronze Lounger! <img src=/S/fanfare.gif border=0 alt=fanfare width=31 height=23>

It is a nice idea to have one place where this info can be found, but if the post gets very large through additions, it would become unwieldy. Part of what you propose is covered by the Star Post Index that is always at the top of this forum, and by the Lounge FAQ. Let's see what others think. In any case, thank you for this suggestion and for your other contributions to the Lounge!

Thanks for your congrats. Just like the baby shoes of old, I've been "bronzed" !

At any rate, as I mentioned, The layout and content I inserted in the sample was a very quick sample of the possibilities. Of course you are correct that the existing FAQ & Help contain some of these things, but at this time anyway, there are references to posts that have been made unavailable when Search was suspended.
So the CONTENT of the proposed F & F is highly variable and subject to edit. We can see what the other Loungers think and it was just a suggestion that could be discussed.

BTW, I can't link to the "help" area from the top menu bar list. All others are OK and I CAN get to Help from the link in the FAQ area???

The other items in the Lounge menu bar are all straight links; the Help item calls a JavaScript function. Do the 1-Click TagPanel and Smilies links work for you? They also call JavaScript functions.

I guess I had a "SWH" event. Suddenly it's working fine. Didn't have chance to see if smilies or 1-click was working or not.

Or. like us "Old Soldiers" would say, you've finally gotten your "Bronze Star!" Let me add my congrats to Hans' words. I guess we should see what comes of the thread and let it happen. I often think we should make more of an effort to get people to look at the Help and FAQ areas AND to add helpful posts or threads to their Reminders list, i.e. the VERY helpful one about Spyware and so on. Let's see what develops.....

I checked out your Fact & FAQS post (thread) and, like the others, think it's worth a try.
A suggestion though, especially in light of the lack of a search function and the fact that threads/posts are being archived.........links, either directly to sites or to posts in the StarPost index, would be really helpful.

I thought it might be a good idea to start a "Facts & FAQ's post to be an aid particularly to newcomers to the Lounge. This could be useful in many ways as an adjunct since the search function is suspended. The post could contain many basic things to consider and be an all in one place reference.

I will post a sample that I have VERY QUICKLY put together, so that it can be seen and commented on by all. The idea being that people could respond to THIS post that we are viewing now and the Main post could be edited and added to, to contain all of the latest things.

What do you all think of this?
