    Compaq Presario 1200 Problem

I'm working on a friend's laptop compuyter. After recently doing a Windows Update for the W98 OS, Hi, I'm having a very frustrating problem after restarting. The very first screen that comes up is "Phoenix Notebios 4.0 save to disk manager". At this point, the computer gives a status indicator for this notebios disk manager and after a second or two just switches to the windows 98 shutdown screen (Windows is now shutting down). Then, the only way to turn the computer off is with the power button. Does anyone know of a way to remove or bypass the notebios save to disk manager?

It nails the problem but 'removing the hard drive' doesn't sound exciting. BTW, it's a 1260 not 1200. Old eyes!

Perhaps someone else will come up with a better idea. In the meantime, you might do your own Google search, that's how I found the link I posted; try searching both Web and Groups. I used Phoenix Notebios save disk manager as search words; try variations, for example including Presario 1260.
