Re: Excel file type not available for import (xp)

Perhaps the dll that takes care of the import hasn't been registered correctly.
    - Use Start | Search to locate msexcl40.dll. On my system (Windows XP) it is in C:WindowsSystem32.
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32msexcl40.dll (with the correct path substituted) and press Enter.

It is also possible that the import wizard hasn't been registered correctly.
    - Use Start | Search to locate accwiz.dll. On my system (Windows XP) it is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10.
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type regsvr32 "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10accwiz.dll" (with the correct path substituted) and press Enter.

You can also try Help | Detect and Repair... from Access. Keep your Office XP CD-ROM at hand.
