Completed date for follow up flags (2002 sp2)

Our helpdesk uses a ("follow up") flag to track jobs, with the flag being marked as complete when the job is closed.
If a completed mail item is openened the header at the top of the message shows that the flag was completed on a certain date and time

I need to trawl through thousands of messages to pull out the "completed" date and the created date to review response rates

I have code that will pull out the created date and can determine that the flag is completed (item.flagstatus = olflagcomplete) but nothing to tell when it was completed. The lastmodified date is close but of course relies on the flag change being the last thing that happened.

So does anyone know how to get at the "completed date" for a flag or the (html?) header text that displays when the item is openend?

Like you, I do not see this property/string in the Outlook Object model. It's possible that you could use an Extended MAPI library such as Redemption to access this property, but I haven't tried it. Redemption lets you refer to properties using various codes, and without documentation, you would need a program such as Outlook Spy to determine the code for this particular property.

    Outlook Spy shows it as a MAPI property called PR_FLAG_COMPLETE_TIME. Now I've told you more than I know. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

The CDO library may offer what you want. Although CDO (collaborative data objects) is on the Office XP CD-ROM, it is not installed in a standard installation, so you may have to get your CD out.

See Property Tags and Types and Tips and Tricks on the CDOLive site; look for CdoPR_FLAG_COMPLETE.

Thanks guys, by coincidence you have followed my work pattern since positng this message:

I used item.fields(proptag) from the excellent Redemption (www.dimastr.com/redemption/objects.htm) to get the value and found the value at
    http://www.cdolive.com/cdo10.htm, it is
Const CompletedDateCDO As Long = "&H10910040"

My only niggle is that it returns the value as GMT not local time (I'm in NZ) - anyone know an easy way to fix this (I am calculating for items with completed date in the past)
at the moment +0.5 (half a day) is sufficient - only wrong when summer time kicks in

    thanks for your efforts

    Simon

Well, DateAdd() with a hardcoded offset should fix it for you if you don't need to worry about other time zones.
