    Finding the MS Excel user template path (Excel 2000)

    We create hundreds of custom Excel templates placing them on CD and install them using InstallShield along with some COM addins. There is one template that needs to be updated and we are looing to place it in a WinZip Self extractor and place this on a web server for our clients to download rather than send out an entire new disk. We are not sure how to discover the MS Excel template path when using a batch type file or VB script so that we can automatically place the file where it should go. Does anyone know how this can be done?

    Thanks

    If you don't want to get that from Excel, see if you can get the username or userprofile from the environment (at the command prompt, enter "set".)

    The following function should work in VB Script :<pre> Function GetTemplatePath()
    Dim WshShell
    Set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    GetTemplatePath = WshShell.SpecialFolders("Templates") & ""
    Set WshShell = Nothing
    End Function</pre>
