Waht is the purpose f the Workgroup templates? (WinXP OXP)
When I go in to Tools|Options and click on the File Locations tab there is a listing for Workgroup Templates. What is the purpose of this? I have tried pointing it to a specific file directory but can't figure out what this did!cheers

Re: Waht is the purpose f the Workgroup templates? (WinXP OXP)
The templates displayed in the Templates dialog (File | New... in older versions of Word), are an amalgam of templates from three locations:
- Templates that come with Word (C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeTemplates...)
- Templates in your User Templates path.
- Templates in your Workgroup Templates path.
Subfolders of the User Templates and Workgroup Templates paths will be displayed as tabs in the dialog (only the first level); the tab structure for the templates that come with Word is built in.
The Workgroup Templates path is mostly useful in a corporate network environment. Users can have their own templates in their User Templates folder; templates that are to be shared by a number of people can be placed in a network folder; users should point their Workgroup Templates to this network folder.
