fly in graphics/objects (PPT97,sr2 on Win2000)

(Edited by stuck on 06-Nov-03 09:56. found the solution!)
I'm trying to create a simple slide with a title, a couple of lines of text, an equation and some more text. I want the elements to appear one at a time in that order at the click of a mouse.
Making the text appear is no problem but for the life of me I can't get the equation to fly-in, it's just there all the time. I've tried creating it as an Equation object, pasting it in from elsewhere in several graphics formats. I've been through the custom animation box but to no avail. If I was working in Word I'd say I want the graphic in-line rather than free floating but this doesn't seem to be an option in PPT 97.
Any suggestions? NB upgrading to a more recent version is not an option.
FIXED! It seems I must activate the animation in the Timing tab of the custom animation box.
You can tell I don't use PPT much.
