    Auto line (Word 2k)

Does any one know why sometimes when you create a line using --- <return>, this line becomes a permanent fixture. There seems to be no way to delete it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Emily

Could you post a document in which this occurs? You should delete most of the contents, we only need to see the line in its context. Replace sensitive information with dummy text, if necessary.

This line has been inserted by an AutoFormat As You Type option. It is in fact a paragraph border, not a drawing object. You can turn it off using the Format | Borders and Shading dialog.

If you would like to turn off this effect, select Tools | AutoCorrect..., AutoFormat As You Type tab. Clear the check box for "Border Lines"
