    Can't add control: Ambiguous Name

When I attempt to add a new text box to my userform, I get an error:

    Ambiguous Name

I am completely unable to add controls to this form.. does anyone know how to fix this?

    Thanks!

What that means is that you've got two things called the same name. I would suspect it's two controls as that's what you're tryimng to do, but it may be two routines. Find them, rename one and you're away. Happy hunting!

this is happening when I add a new control, I would understand if I were copying/pasting, but i'm clicking on the toolbox, say add a combo-box or something, and i'm getting this error..

What is the default name? Doesn't it rename the new control so that this doesn't happen? <img src=/S/sigh.gif border=0 alt=sigh width=15 height=15>

Yes, it should - or it normally does for me. Without trying to add the new control, do you get the ambiguous name message if you save and close? - if you do then the double name is already present, if not then it's caused by what you're currently trying to do.

No i'm not getting it when I save and close.. but if I try to add a new item to my userform, it won't let me do it..

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the file small enough to post? Have you tried copying just the form to another workbook and then seeing whether you can add controls?
