    Error in formula (Excel 2002)

In my spreadsheet I have aformula to create a running total. the last total minus an amount e.gthe formula in H17 will read =H16-G17. This works fine and all the sells are relative. but if I delete a row I get =#REF-G16. Surley if the cells are relative it should just change accordingly? I have to copy fill the formula from the cell above to get it to work. Any ideas?

You can make the formulas relative: replace the formula =H16-G17 in cell H17 by

    =OFFSET(H17,-1,0)-OFFSET(H17,0,-1)
