    Inserting 'Manager' Field (2K)

    I'm trying to retrieve a a document number stored in the little-used MANAGER field in the Document Properties dialog box (most of the other properties fields are used for their original purposes). I'd like to use a Field Code to fetch that value out and insert it into a footer. But I can't find the Manager listing on any of the field category listings (not even the Document Information one).

    Cheating by doing the obvious - using the field category list to insert the AUTHOR tag, then overtyping AUTHOR with MANAGER doesn't work, either.

    Does anyone know if data stored under MANAGER can in fact be retrieved this way?

    Phil,

    Manager appears on the File > Properties > Summary page, with things like Author, Title, Keywords and Comments

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by Phil Rabichow on 06-Nov-03 12:28. added correction)</P>Hi Kim:
    As far as I know, the MANAGER must be a custom property; I can't find it in mine. [Correction: Whoops, I wrote too quickly. Now that I see your post, Stuart.] But if you have such a custom property, with a value set to a number, you can retrieve it by using:
    { docproperty manager }
    where the braces are inserted using Ctrl+F9. You can't just overtype author, because {author} works because it is a special autotext entry.
    Hope this helps,

    Thanks, Stuart. I overlooked it. I guess we were both typing at the same time. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Thanks guys!

    I was looking at the Doc Info root level where the other info on the summary page is listed. Had I only opened my eyes, and looked at the docproperties detail page I would have found it.

    I'll slink off to my corner and beat myself for asking an obvious question now...
