Clipart (Word XP)

Good day,

I have a machine that is running Windows 2000 with Office XP with all the service packs installed. When I try to access clipart it does not show. All I get is the boxes with red ex's in them. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, repairing, etc. to no avail.
Has anyone had this problem before or know how I could fix it?
Thank you in advance.

Have you selected the checkbox Tools > Options > View > Picture Placeholders?
Do other types of graphics display properly?
Does clipart print, even though it doesn't display properly?

Re: Clipart (Word XP)

Glenn, this was a something that used to occur quite often in Office 97 (98 too?) (Word 97 to be exact). It was an undocumented feature of Word . As it turned out it , if I recall correctly, when Word loaded a document, if it couldn't find enough memory, it simply dropped the graphics and put a red X in its place. I remember posts from people who had this happen in documents with hundreds of graphics. I lost count of the number of times it happened to me or one of my colleagues. I remember that installing more memory seemed to help (unfortunately not always). I do hope this problem has not reared its ugly head again. If so I will stick with Office 2K .

If it is a different problem -

My questions to you would be - how big is the document and how much memory do you have on the machine you are using?
