Maximize windows (6 on WinXP Home)

My wife uses Outlook Express for her email, and she likes for all her message windows to open maximized. She doesn't like to see a bunch of "restored" windows stacked on top of each other. OE has always behaved the way she likes it until the day my sister visited and used my wife's computer to check her email. My sister did not use OE (as far as I know). She checked her email via her ISP's web site via Internet Explorer. Ever since that time, my wife's email message windows--and, I suppose, anything else she views in IE or OE--have opened in restored mode, and my wife is very unhappy about it! <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39>

My wife and I both suspect this behavior has something to do with my sister, but I'm not savvy enough to diagnose and cure the condition. Can anyone offer any solutions? Thanks!

There's "maximized" and then there's "restored full size." You can train most Windows programs to follow your cue to open windows "restored full size," but it may be more difficult to train them to remember "maximized." The typical trick is to hold Shift and click the X button when closing the Window. Or some have said to hold Ctrl, while others have said to use the menus. Try them all. It should only take seconds to determine whether any of these work for OE.

Thanks! I'll try all the above. You mentioned "restored full size." I don't remember seeing that as a menu choice anywhere. Can you elaborate, please.

Unfortunately, "restored full size" isn't on a menu, you have to stretch the window manually. (I suppose you could write a script to resize the window, but... not today.)
