    WOPR Newsgroup Account?

    Hello All,

This forum looks awesome. I'm wondering, is there a way to add an account for it to my Outlook Express which I use to read newsgroups? If so, what is the account address?

The interface is very nice, but it would be super convenient for me to have these threads show up in Outlook Express with other newsgroups that I visit.

Hope I'm posting this question to the right folder.

    Many Thanks,
    Laura

    Hi

    Thanks for the reply.

I really don't understand how the whole "newsgroup" thing works. Outlook Express says to contact your ISP to find out where a newsgroup is, but my ISP said "Huh? You need to contact the newsgroup."

If you go to the microsoft newsgroups, for example, they tell you what to enter as the account address in OE. I added some Novel newsgroups the same way (had to contact them for the account/server name). And then, voila. Each thread comes in like a folder, each post like an email. I use OE to search, highlight, and save things.

My grasp of the whole thing is that there are, broadly speaking, three types of formats. Web sites, email and newsgroups. Woody's is a threaded web site which looks and feels much like a newsgroup. Part of the difference will be just how the data is stored.

As I understand it newsgroups bear a closer relationship to email than to a threaded web site.

    If I'm wrong someone will soon set us both straight. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I think the nearest you are going to getting what you want is to subscribe to the daily archives.

    Laura--

At the most basic level, and someone will answer this more fully, wouldn't the Lounge have to be stored on a particular NG's server accessible to your OE newsreader, and even if it were, this would be predetermined by your ISP.
