Sending Word documents to printer (97 upwards)

When we send a Word document to a networked printer it always seems to prefix the document name with
    "Microsoft Word - "
(without the double quotes, of course!). This is seen when we display the printer driver queue, and doesn't happen for Excel prints.

Is there any way of suppressing this prefix for Word documents, since we wish to process the document name in another spooling system?

    Thanks!

Re: Sending Word documents to printer (97 upwards)

I'd love to know the answer to this too. Microsoft PowerPoint does the same thing. We use a Xerox color printer with a Fiery processor. We usually send a document or presentation to print 1 time and then go into a Web-based Fiery tool called a WebSpooler to print multiple copies after its already been processed. The header material is reproduced in the WebSpooler and takes up almost all the allotted space for document name. So if you send multiple documents, you have a hard time figuring out which is which. PowerPoint takes up so much space, only 1 character of the document name shows up on the WebSpooler.

I've been meaning to post this question and never did. Thanks.
