    Open HTML as Text, MS-DOS Text, Encoded Text

    One of my clean-up routines is having severe GPFs today (if I hit Debug... when it croaks). Appears that an HTML document opened as "Text only," which usually works like a charm, contains those terrible disassembled paragraphs. You know, there's a box (character code 13) and then the paragraph symbol (character code 10) instead of the usual combined paragraph mark.

    Has anyone seen/solved this recently enough to know how to fix it? The workaround is to open either as MS-DOS Text or Encoded Text (Plain Text), but this is a macro solution and I would rather not go around updating it.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

    I will need to open-HTML-as-text real soon now, and would LOVE to steal your code.

    If you can post/email it I'll try it as soon as I get it. i can hook it up to my Files processor and turn it loose on every HTML file on my machine.

    Actually, opening is the easiest, because there is a conversion parameter; my other (problem) routine wants to File Insert, which requires the user to select the conversion...

    Documents.Open FileName:=strURL, ReadOnly:=True, _
    Format:=wdOpenFormatText ', Visible:=False

    I decided not to use Visible:=False, and instead to use a window resizing technique to reduce screen activity, for the reasons explained in <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=vb&Number=20460>this post</A>.

    Thanks for this.

    I'm always unsure of what to do in these situations. Did the link get added incorrectly?
