VIDEO-IN Port

A friend has ordered NEODVD, a program that purportedly will allow him to convert his VHS home movies to CDs. The program literature says he needs a VIDEO-IN port. It referred to "FireWire or Analog Capture card cable" as the type of connection required. Can anyone explain what is needed for this? Thanks.

Some video card have an S-Video plug that can receive data, the ATI All-in-Wonder series are set up for two way communication so they have video out. You can go to Best Buy or any of another number of places and purchase an add on card that works in conjunction with your video card. This add on card is called a "capture card". Finally there is a product called "Dazzle" that converts all type of input (S-Video, analog, digital) to USB so you can record as needed onto a hard drive or CD-R.

Firewire is likely used for the Mac (and by Sony). If your friend has neither - you can ignore it.
