    Protect an Outline? (ExcelXP)

    Have a sheet with some collapsing rows & columns (outline). Want to place protection on the sheet but still allow users to collapse/expand. Have tried some sheet protection-options but do not seem to be able to make that work... Is this possible?

    You will have to run a macro for this. You may want to call it in the Workbook_Open event handler, for the setting is not saved with the workbook.

    Sub AllowOutline()
    With Worksheets("OutlineSheet")
    .Unprotect
    .EnableOutlining = True
    .Protect UserInterfaceOnly:=True
    End If
    End Sub

    Substitute the appropriate worksheet name (or make it into an argument of the procedure). If you have protected the worksheet with a password, add it to both Unprotect and Protect:

    .Unprotect Password:="geheim"
    ...
    .Protect UserInterfaceOnly:=True, Password:="geheim"

    Thanks Hans, I'll try that (Sorry for the delayed answer...)
