I don't have a Vaio, but many notepads have a switch to use part of the normal keyboard as numeric keypad. There usually is an Fn key to the left of the space bar, and the function keys will have small extra logos; one of them should look like a small calculator. Fn+this function key acts as a toggle. Could it be that you have accidentally hit this key combination?

On my Dell, this happens if NumLock is set. It happens every time I undock and go from an external keyboard to the built-in keyboard. Actually, this new model might not do it, but the previous one did it every time.

We have two (2) Vaio lap tops and you have the "NumLocks" key on. Just hit the NimLocks key one more time and it will be turned off.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I kept getting the same response, NUM lock is on, so I looked and looked and finally found it. I didn't even know I had one. It took me 10 minutes to find the key, to turn it off!! Boy, am I embarassed. Thanks for the help
