    Beginner needs help (Excel 97)

    In cell A2 I have this =if(C1="","",C1) after Excel move the Number to A2, how can I lock that number in A2 after I remove the number in C1

    You won't be able to "lock" the result after you remove the number in C1, you must do that before. There are several ways to replace formulas by their results:

    - Select the cells with formulas
    - Copy them (Edit | Copy or Ctrl+C)
    - Edit | Paste Special..., Values option, OK.

    or:

    - Activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11)
    - Activate the Immediate Window (Ctrl+G)
    - Type Selection.Value = Selection.Value and press Enter.
    - Switch back to Excel (Alt+F11)
