    C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Cookies (6)

    Hi,

Concerned about privacy, I deleted all my cookies from Cocuments and SettingsJonathan RickCookies. I also deleted the index.dat file from Cocuments and SettingsDefault UserCookies. But I was unable to delete the index.dat file from Cocuments and SettingsJonathan RickCookies; I receive the following message: "Cannot delete index: It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again."

    Any ideas? Thanks.

These index.dat files have been discussed before. If you have cleared their contents through the GUI, you do not need to delete them. Unless an FBI seizure is imminent, in which case a sledgehammer might be your only hope.

There are applications that will clean out the Index.dat files for you when you start the computer. A Google search for delete index.dat will turn up candidates.
