    Save As Dialog box

    I am using word 2000.
I want the Save As dialog box to appear as the document is first opened from the template, so that the user has to save the new document immediately.
This is easily done using Sub Document_New and the command Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs).show.
I also want to specify values in the Save in: and the File name: fields. I cannot find a value for, or an example of how to access these parameters.
    Can anyone suggest a solution?
    Thanks
    Norman

    Re: Save As Dialog box

    Hi Norman,
You should be able to use the following:
    With Dialogs(wdDialogFileSaveAs)
    .Name = "C:test.doc"
    .Show
    End With
to do what you want. I presume the name and location are purely suggestions otherwise a Document.saveas might be more useful.
    Hope that helps.

    Rory:
I have already tried that but it would not work consistantly. I now believe that I was introducing finger error some place. With your confirmation, I will figure out the source of my trouble.
    Thanks

    Norman,
Can you let me know if you do have problems with it being inconsistent? It's the sort of thing that would be handy to know!
    Thanks,

    Re: Save As Dialog box

Rory: I understand it now and WORD works consistantly. The .name value is split between the save in and file name fields.
My problem centered around sometimes clicking on the File>Save As instead of File>New icon during testing. My mind was not relating the correct directions to my fingers.
    Thanks for the quick response.
    Norman
