    Outlook Express and AIM (XP)

I'm using Windows XP and Office XP at home and there are 4 users setup on the computer. When I log in and launch Outlook Express my son's AIM automatically launches. Can't seem to find where to turn this off. Any ideas?

I wonder if AIM has hooked into the same mechanism that launches Microsoft Messenger (or whatever it's called) when I start OE? Don't have time to research that right now, but maybe the fix is the same for both messengers. ("Kill the Messenger" ?)

If this the AOL Instant Messenger, you need to check the options in AOL to stop this from starting up.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

In XP, under Add/Remove Programs, Set Program Access and Defaults, you can change the default instant messenging program. If this has been changed to AIM, and OE is set to Launch (name of default IM program) when starting Outlook Express, then that would explain what is going on. The option can be turned off in OE.
