    Updating format of dates

I have a table that dates were entered using the 'General' format which attached date & time. When I try to make a selection in a query using just the date it is not found. Is there a way to go back and reformat the dates as 'Short Date' format??? I have over a thousand records to correct. <img src=/S/fire.gif border=0 alt=fire width=15 height=15>

    Re: Updating format of dates

    Hi,
You could run an update query on your table using the format function - e.g. if Field1 is your date/time field, your query would update Field1 to
    Format([Field1],"dd/mm/yyyy") or
    Format([Field1],"mm/dd/yyyy") depending on your preference.
    Hope that helps.

    Rory,

I put the format function in the 'Update to' section and it came up with a 'type conversion error'. Any suggestions??? <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Hi,
Do you have any records that don't have anything in that date field? If so, try adding Is Not Null in the criteria section of the query and see if that helps.
