Now I am in serious trouble (OL 2003)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

I have a serious problem, and I don't know where to start.

OK I was working on my Outlook VBA project, and suddenly I get this error message.

Now I can't activate the VBE, I can't run any code, and I have no idea what went on when this error happend. I tried to go to the Disable under the About, in the Help menu, and I did not see any items there to enable or disable...

I tried the Detect and Repair option under the help menu, and I did not get far into it.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks a Million <img src=/S/money.gif border=0 alt=money width=17 height=15>

Wassim, I don't know either, did you search the MSKB? You might try these two steps:

    1. Go into Tools | Options | Other tab | Advanced Options | Add-In Manager and uncheck each item until things are working normally
    2. If that doesn't work, find your vbaproject .otm file and rename it something else, restart Outlook. You will have apparently lost all your code, but if you can get back to having a VBE, you can then restore it and see what happens.

Make a backup of your Outlook code modules to a .bas file from time to time.

JBF is righ on target. I'd just add that you can import (hopefully everything) from your old file - if it's not corrupted. See the file menu.

OldDog, in OL 2000 VBE I don't see an option to import from an .OTM format, do you mean import from a .BAS file, or is the "import from OTM" only available in XP+?

Sorry, I put the cart before the horse on this one. XP doesn't have .otm as an import option either. I searched some VB/Outlook/Exchange sites, and did a general search on Google, looking for solutions to corrupt project files. No Joy. I did find a post be Sue Mosher - it seems that even the master has lost this file 4-5 times. A lesson for all of us to backup/export (bas is probably best) regularly.

Guess what I just backed up to 4 .BAS files and one .CLS file? <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

Yes I did have the project backed up and apparently my Userform got trashed. I don't know why, or what did it, but I know that when I renamed the .OTM file, and then started Outlook, then basically copy and pasted the code into a new fresh module, I had done this copy and paste into a Word document, for some reason, just about 5 minutes before I got the error message... Call it luck, call it preminition, it simply saved the day.

Then I compiled and saved the code, and all was well. It objected when I tried to import the userform. It said that a checkbox was not defied. So I removed that checkbox object and it kept telling me that each of the objects, textboxes and Frames, all one by one was not defied.

I trashed the whole form, and rebuilt it, and it was OK from that point on.

    Thanks for your help.
