Return address prints too low on envelope (Word 2000)

The return address on envelopes prints at 1.1" from the top. Even when I choose options and change it to anything less than 1.1" it still prints at 1.1". If I choose 1.2" or 1.25" it prints those correctly. My envelopes look very strange with the return address so low down.

What is the printer type you're using? And what is your Windows version?

Thanks, that rules out one possibility (margin problems with HP LaserJets).

The return address is formatted with the Envelope Return style; this style includes a frame. Perhaps you can modify the frame position in the style definition for Envelope Return.

Another thing you might try is vary the print orientation for the envelope (in the other tab of Envelope Options)

Re: Return address prints too low on envelope (Word 2000)

My return address was printing 3" in from the left and I could not figure out why. Eventually I noticed that the wrong size of envelope had been specified in the dialog, I clicked options, changed to size 10, and everything went back to its normal position. If you have verified that the correct envelope size is selected, check whether the style named "Envelope return" has any settings that add space before. Does any of this help?

Re: Return address prints too low on envelope (Word 2000)

I have been having problems with envelopes as well. I have a Lexmark Z51. It all started after I printed an envelope from my laptop (Windows XP, Office XP) thru a wireless network.

Now if I try to print an envelope from the desktop (Windows 98, Office 2000) the return address location will not work correctly no matter what I do. (The printer is physically connected to this computer.) If I print from the Laptop it works fine.

    Hi Kris:
Does it help if you change Tools/Options/Compatibility tab/Use printer metrics to lay out document? Microsoft has a series of confusing KB articles concerning this option (sorry, I didn't save them), sometimes recommending to turn it on & sometimes turning it off. Also, have you checked the Print dialog box to see if the default printer was changed?
    Hope this helps,

Sounds like the driver may have been changed. Try installing a current driver for the printer.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Messing with the frames didn't help much, but changing the orientation of the envelope feed did. Don't know why that would be so, but I'm not going to argue with success. Thanks.
