    Compacting via VBA (OL 2003)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

It does not seem that one can issue a VBA command to compact the Inbox of the mail system in Outlook 2003?

Plus its kind of way hidden into the settings, I guess counting the clicks to get to the compact button, one needs several fingers. Is that an indication why MS did not give a VBA command to compact?

    Thanks in advance.

The exposed Outlook object model is geared towards handling the various Outlook items (appointments, tasks, contacts, mail items). Unlike in Word and Excel, it provides almost nothing for controlling the user interface.

Several posts in the MS Newsgroups about this subject state that there is no way to compact a .pst file in VBA. Sorry

    I figured out that much.

I kinda had a feeling that since the Compact button was hidden, vs a button or an option on the Tools menu, MS did not want the user to do this kind of work too often.

BTW do you know if Outlook 2003 suffers from the 2 Gigabytes file size limitation? I have been looking for MSKB articles dealing with this issue, but have not come up with anything that deals with 2003 specifically.

    Keep up the great work... <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

I don't have Office 2003 yet (and won't get it in the near future.)
