    Need Proper Query Syntax? (a2k (9.0.6926) SP-3 Jet 4.0 SP-7)

The following SQL works OK and returns the smith records

strIDSQL: SELECT strMemberName, idsKeyToPersonal, Format(strMSS,'@@@-@@-@@@@') As SSNo, strPatientName, intNUM, Format(dteDateArrival,'mm/dd/yy') As Arrival, Format(strDrid,'@@-@@@@@@') As TIN, strDentistName, ysnActive, ysnUpdate, strFormMethod, iif(tblArrivals.intStatus=1,'OK', iif(tblArrivals.intStatus=2,'MM', iif(tblArrivals.intStatus=4,'MP', iif(tblArrivals.intStatus=8,'MD', iif(tblArrivals.intStatus=16,'CP','Oth'))))) as Status, Format(dteDateCreate,'mm/dd/yy') As Create, dteDateUpdate, strUpdateID, idsKeyToPersonal FROM qrytblArrivalsLookup WHERE strMemberName LIKE 'smith*' ORDER BY strMemberName, strPatientName

No idea. Something similar works without a hitch for me. I thought that Access might object to using Update as a field alias, since Update is a reserved SQL keyword, but it caused no problems in a test.
