    Outlook Send mail problem... (XP...)

    Hi,

    I migrated my PST's to a new PC & the email settings (manually).

    Now I get the error (shown in screen-shot) whenever I try to send an email.

    What can I do to fix this - help!!!

    Do you get this message for every email you send or just to certain domains? The best way to migrate your settings from one computer to another is to use the 'Save my settings' wizard, which saves the settings of all your Office apps to file. You then run it on your new computer to import the saved settings.

    This is from a home PC. It is to any recipient.
    The return message is immediate, comes in about half a second!

    I could not find the 'Save my settings' wizard in OutlookXP - pls. can you advise me where to look for it?

    The Save My Settings Wizard is not part of Outlook, it is an Office tool, available from the Windows Start menu: Start | Programs | Microsoft Office Tools | Save My Settings Wizard.

    It should already be installed, as Hans pointed out. If it is not you will need your installation CD to install it. It is one of optional Office Tools.

    If the error comes that quickly, it means that Outlook is unable to find your SMTP server. Run the Save my Settings wizard and see if that fixes it.

    Does the SMTP (outgoing) server for the account on which you are sending match your current ISP? This sort of message suggests that the SMTP server has anti-relay protection (needed to prevent use by spammers) and you either are not logging into its recognized network or not authenticating yourself to it.
